Carnival
Today, 1 st of March,
the carnival parade it taking place in Corfu town.
Some floats and a number of dance schools take part in this event which starts at 4.00 pm from San Rocco square heading for the lower square of the town.
In the photos above you can see the kids of a dance school that parade along Alexandras Avenue towards San Rocco square to meet the bands. A huge blue masc shows the name of their school and the little kids dressed in pink follow along with the teenagers who are dressed like police women. This is only one of the numerous dance schools that exist on the island. Gyms are also in favor these days. To watch a video go to www.Corfuland.gr where you can also listen to Life Radio, the local pop radio station.

I'm so sorry we're missing this now we're back in England, but we will be 'home' again from 1 April. Simon
It was just a short parade but quite colorful. When you come back I would like to give you my new bilingual book for kids-maybe you will be able to read the Greek part!
Kids! That's an excellent start and I'd love to buy your book = and I'll give it a plug on my blog. There's a small girl - daughter of a neighbour - who comes and chats to us when we're working in the garden in Ano Korakiana. She has decided to try and teach the xenoi how to talk properly and it's quite fun. becasue we point at things and she names them. She doesn't quite grasp the idea of people not being able to speak Greek so it makes us very unselfconscious about making mistakes. S
OK! email me when you are here and I'll meet you in town to give you my book-no, you don't have to buy it, this is a small gift from me...
And yes, I accept your kind offer to promote it in your blog. I need tons of promotion to get it known! I have just started and it's good to be busy doing things I like!
That's super. Thanks so much. We're back from 1 April for 6 weeks. I'll e-mail you and see if we can arrange a rendezvous. Best wishes Simon
